Here we go again, this time the circus traveled to Sweden for a weekend of insanity.
For 3 full days cars of all kinds from all over the world tore it up on the track.
The first thing I saw when I rolled into the race camp was this guy. There he had been sleeping for about 3 hours and it was only 5'o'clock on thursday.
Finnish coal burner Teemu Peltola from Black Smoke Racing on his way to get his car approved for the track.
This beauty of a Corolla caught my eye early as the sun shed som golden light on it.
The New Zealand native and Drift Superstar Mad Mike Whiddett took the trip with his family to partake in the mayhem.
But they werent the only ones traveling across the globe, Kei Miura or Mr. Rocketbunny/TRA Kyoto himself also came to visit.
This has to be the worlds sexiest Volvo 240 its just a fantastic looking piece of brick.
One of my "neighbours" at the camping site. Awesome looking Supra Mark 3.
Some last work being done before the driving started Friday.
Karel Silha's crazy E30 running a 2.85ltr M20 pushing down a whooping 930+ whp.
You know a car is awesome when it has one of these stickers.
A shot of Are Ourum's flame spitting Porsche is pretty much a must.
Mad Mike is ready for some drifting.
Trying new things is always fun, one of the things I found somewhat success with was wideangle shooting at the wall. Olle Olsson here also had great success in his Monster Energy E46.
Epic Lancia is Epic. I dont know any specs but by the looks of it, this is a ridiculously fast one.
Johan Halvarsson, last years winner of the swedish powerdrift series strapping up for some runs in his 2JZ S15.
Standing there, majestic and in all its glory. I dont know who decided to put the Norwegian flag up on a 20 meter long pole, but kudos to you!
Whats Gatebil without some rain?? Fortunatley all the rain decided to pour down at the same time, completely soaking the track. Thank god for weathersealed camera gear!
Luckily it dried up quickly.
I found the winds to be rather chilly this weekend, this girl obviously didnt.
Gatebil babes where ofcourse present, riding around in their golfcart.
Alexander Lundborg from JapCrap Bombsquad laying down a trail of smoke in his RB powered S13
Showstopper, quattrowizard, nutjob. All of this is words to describe Kenneth Alm.
Then it was time for the infamous aftertrack. Love it or hate it, it is a huge part of the Gatebil concept.
Lillasyster came and killed it between all the babeshows.
Crowd was on fire, and the band aknowlegded this by saying it was one of the best crowds ever.
Seriously he brought a vacum cleaner to the show.
The Gatebil babes finished of the night with some ass shaking.
Saturday I did some more experimenting with the wideangle, dumping the shutterspeed to 1/8 of a seconds gives you alot of movement.
The wall at Mantorp, was chasing the lovetap shot all weekend but didnt get, but I'll see you again next year..
Then it was time for the 2nd race of the Gatebil Extreme series. Being that the Mantorp track is more suited for racing than drifting so this would be rather intresting.
Kai Roger Bakken was looking for some redemption after last time. He did get some by winning the time attack then after leading for 7/8 laps during the Extreme race.
His clutch started slipping and he got passed by his biggest rival, Vidar Frogner.
Took a lap around the exhibition part of the paddock. Spotted this awesome boosted S2000
And Frederick Channon's sick sick sick R32 GTR.
Sat on the bleachers for 30 minutes taking a break for everything. And what do you know, a Golf comes rolling by..
Then it was time for SM in "breisladd" which means Swedish Championship in powersliding.
Purple smoke is pretty awesome, wonder if he's a Jimi Hendrix fan?
Dirt drops are always fun, this was a huge one!
Struggling with the car all weekend, Joachim Waagaard unfortunatley didnt have much success in his qualifying run.
Kenneth Moen in his brand new PS13 freaking destroyed this weekend.
Mad Mike managed to qualify #1 on Saturday. Unfortunatley he didnt do as well in the finals.
But his team mate did absolutley kill it in his final run. Well deserved victory to Fredric Aasbø in his GT86.
After the Powersliding qualifications was over, I found this monster truck Saab parked in the woods. Unique to say the least.
KRB's Lotus is so bad ass looking!!
And oh do I love drunk idiots. This was sunday morning.
I usually dont like Rx8's but I have to say Mike's is bad ass looking.
Generator failed and it kept overheating, but Joachim doesn't care!
All of a sudden, you could hear diesel roars coming down the paddock. Oh its just the Whiddett family cruising around.
As the day comes to an end and everyone is leaving, the paddock opens up and its possible to get some nice shots of the cars before they go on the trailer.
The inevitable Car wash, with a little twist. So glad I stayed around long enough to get this shot of Lincoln being super excited about washing his dads car.
So I guess this has to conclude the weekend of carnage. Mantorp has been great and I cant wait for the main event at Rudskogen!!
